British magazine Playstation World Magazine (PSW) has a bit of new info for everyone. There are no new images in the article, so here's guts of new info they wrote about:
"Cocoon's government is using crystals with the power to change man's destiny to force those on Pulse to work against their will. In turn, the citizens of Pulse are rebelling. Their force is led by the only confirmed character so far, a feisty woman who goes by the codename of 'Lightning'.
Apparently the player won't know if he's (Note: I presume by "he" they are talking about Mr. 33cm) on Lightning's side or not until a certain point in the game. One new feature to help develop the story will be a 'split-screen' of sorts, showing different characters in different locations on screen at the same time."
Basically, Lightning is heading up a rebellion fueled by the people of Pulse and the poor treatment they've gotten from the Government of Cocoon. As for the split screen, this will probably be for cut scenes as having a window to other characters on your screen while in battle or running around doesn't particularly make much sense.

Looks like Square Enix are finally starting to get some publicity going for FF13. Japanese mags Dengenki and Famitsu are going to cover FF. Maybe some insight into the story and pictures of characters? Fingers crossed.

I like the idea of split-screen as long as it's used at the right cinematic moments, ya know. I wonder what Lightning being the head of the rebel forces has to do with the prophecy that she's gonna bring about doomsday? Could it be that the government is using a religous excuse in order to increase the hatred of her? Sounds legitamate. Also, what do you think Lightning's real name? I'm not sure if it really matters, but it's got to be interesting since she has to use a "codename" for herself.

In the article, "he" is addressing the player, not a character.

Was it really confirmed that she is the main character in the meaning that you’ll start the game controlling her?. I think she’s „just“ one of the main characters. According to the quote from PSW: „Apparently, the player won’t know if he (refers imo to „the player“ not Mr. 33cm, since he’s not mentioned anywhere in the article)’s on Lightning’s side or not until a certain point in the game“ I think it’s possible that she won’t be in your party from the beginning. This actually reminded me of an old quote from Toriyama in the OPM:
„Toriyama on the female character that was shown in the trailer: „I wouldn’t say that shes’s the main character. It just happens to be that she was the character that we chose to feature in the trailer. However, it is true that we wanted to have a strong, independent woman as one of the main characters in the game.“ (OPM, August 2006)

Looks like FFXIII will be like the old FFs (FFI-VI). Which is a good thing since that's what Final Fantasy was suppose to be about anyway. Hype level +3

Well this makes sence, i in the trailer lightning is busting out the prisoners on the train which i presume is a cacoon train. So it makes totalsence that seh is agenst cacoon.
