The November issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) reports that although info on Final Fantasy XIII is tight and hard to squeeze out of Square Enix, one tidbit has popped out, Final Fantasy XIII is up and running on Playstation 3 hardware as of now (see scan 1). Whether FFXIII has just gotten up and running on PS3 hardware recently or if it's been up and running and this info has only just made it to EGM is unclear. If it's the case that FFXIII has just gotten on PS3 hardware recently, the prospect of seeing it inside 2008 seem slimmer than ever, especially in english.
Also, on the last page of the November EGM issue (see scan 2) it's revealed that FFXIII is on the top of the list for previews to be featured in next months issue. Look for scans of that very preview a month from today here on FF-XIII.net.

just because they translated a few written words in a trailer doenst mean they already have an english cast doing the voices for the english version and thats what might delay the the release in english. but it might not take as much time as it used to because ps3 doesnt have regions like psx and ps2 did. I HOPE it comes out next year.

Yeah, I get the feeling that they were betting that there would be new public FFXIII content at the Tokyo Game Show since the magazine was finished and print when TGS was running, so saying they'll have info from TGS's hottest games (and since FFXIII is at the top of the list, they're including FFXIII in that statement), so saying that might have just been wishing for the best.
As we know not much came out of TGS for us, so the preview maybe be pretty bare bones besides a trailer description.

They said that about Last Remnent, and they'll try their best for FFXIII. I was refering to the numbered FF's, I don't know the history of the spin off at all myself.

Actually Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was released in America before Japan. Also haven't they said they're aiming for a simultaneous launch?

What's been shown is in English yeah, but they've said that they're trying to narrow the time between release in Japan to release in North America this time. No FF has landed in english first and I seriously doubt FFXIII will be the first, we'd know by now I think.
I hope you're right and I'm wrong though because I'd love to be playing it right now. The sooner the better.

The game is in English NOT Japanese, have you not seen the images, I've not noticed one word of Japanese in any of them ;)
Oh and it running on PS3 hardware doesn't mean that it'll take them a year to make it ;) They can still easily finish it in time for next year.
